On Saturday, we had our first day of Arts Programming at BAX! What a wonderful day of meeting new friends and learning about dance, theatre, and music! We are so thankful to everyone that joined us! Hope to see you all back this Saturday.
Si Se Puede is proud and honored to be a part of the annual Borimix Theatre Festival at Teatro
La Tea. This year, we will be workshopping an excerpt from our current musical in development, “The Boogie Down Gospel” We also recently wrapped a short film, "Michael's Time", created in collaboration with the Remote Control Program at Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia. "Michaels Time" is a student film that follows the journey of a young middle school student struggling to find her place in the world following the devastating loss of his brother.
SSP Teammembers Jennica Carmona and Joel Arandia recently completed production of a new short film with the Senior Acting Class at Pace University titled "The Fellowship". Set in a university Sociology Class, this exciting new film explores issues of privilege, race, and gender equity. Watch out for the film on the festival circuit!
SSP was thrilled to be one of the 4 selected participants of the inaugural Latine Theater Lab Showcase at La Tea Theater on April 12th, where we presented our new musical in development, "The Boogie Down Gospel", written and directed by SSP's own Jessica Carmona, and starring Jennica Carmona, Jose Joaquin Garcia, and more! The Latine Theater Lab is dedicated to fostering the development of new work in musical theater by and about Latinos. For more information about this amazing organization, visit:
https://www.latinemtlab.org . And stay tuned for updates about our upcoming full-scale production of this amazing new musical! Si Se Puede Productions, LLC is so excited to announce our partnership with Antac Entertainment and Vitruvian Films Corp. on a new episodic series entitled BORDERS.
The new series, which will be pitched to major networks including HBO, Netflix and Amazon, features a majority LatinX cast, as well as a diverse Production Team which includes both women and minorities. The series follows the journey of Roberto, a young Salvadorian student, factory worker and adoptee as he struggles to be a voice for the voiceless while at the same time balancing family loyalties. Roberto is caught between two worlds: American and Salvadoreno, constantly being reminded that he doesn’t belong in either one. Inspired by the Immigrant Rights movement and the Black Lives Matter Movement, the creators (Isaac Pletcher, Jessica Carmona and Anthony Palomba) felt strongly that now is the time for “our stories” to be heard. Written by us, for us and about us. The filming will take place over the course of two days in October 2021 in Baton Rouge, LA. You can follow the production on social media at: Instagram: @borderstvseries Twitter: @tvborders For more information about this exciting new work, feel free to contact us here at Si Se Puede or at [email protected]. |
