Sí Se Puede Productions, LLC is an independent theatre and film production company which produces artistic projects with social justice themes. Our work is centered on stories by and about the Latino/a community. Through our work, we aim to give a voice to oppressed communities, inspire people to act for social change, and celebrate our history and diverse cultures.
Our feature film, Millie and the Lords, won several awards on the film festival circuit and was sold to HBO in May 2016.
The film tells the story of Milagros Baez, a young woman who is part of the Puerto Rican diaspora of Spanish Harlem. As she learns about the history of the 1970’s Puerto Rican activist group, The Young Lords, she transforms her life and becomes the woman she was always meant to be.
The film has been screened at numerous colleges and universities throughout the country. More information here.
Our original play, Elvira - The Immigration Play, has toured across the country from Chicago to Dallas, Texas to New York City and beyond. Inspired by interviews with undocumented immigrants and a brave Mexican woman who took Sanctuary in a church in order to stay with her U.S citizen son, the play has been recognized and celebrated by theatre critics nationwide and was voted one of the 7 most promising plays of the NY International Fringe Festival. More information here.
